Meet Susan Khobidi, a talented young tailor from Chigwirizano Market in #LilongweCity, #Malawi. With the upcoming road construction funded by Millennium Challenge Corporation – MCC through MCA Malawi II, Susan is excited about what lies ahead for her small business.

“I have heard that the new road will have streetlights, so my customers won’t have to worry about visiting after dark. This means I can keep my shop open longer, which will be great for business,” she shares.

The 53km road, stretching from Chigwirizano through Malingunde to Chileka along the Mchinji Road, is set to improve road conditions, reduce transport costs, and improve safety; directly benefiting businesses like Susan’s. This Project is part of the Malawi and U.S. Govt partnership under the $350 million compact, which aims to construct and improve over 300 kilometers of roads across four strategic corridors in northern, central, and southern Malawi.
